Alimisho Chairman’s Cup 2nd Edition Finals
The 2nd edition of the Alimosho Chairman’s Cup kicked off on the 26th of October 2018 with Pertinence Limited as official sponsors.
Football is one sport that has stolen the hearts and attention of virtually every sector in Nigeria, and we are not an exception. Since the involvement of the Super Eagle in the 2018 FIFA World Cup where they presented a fine squad and represented Nigeria in a grand style despite not making it through to the next round of qualification, the love, and interest for football activities has finally rekindled, and the hope of making a living through the sport in Nigeria- revived.
The Tournament Final held on the 14th of November between Puma FC and the defending champions- All Stars FC and kicked off by 4:30 PM.
The field was filled with supporting fans and football lovers from around the Alimosho local government area to grace the event. Local government chairman Hon. Jelili Suliaman addressed the teams before the match and acknowledged the presence of the official sponsors with words of appreciation before he officially opened the match with a kick-off.
The game started with the defending champions All Stars FC scoring a goal into the first half and taking an early one-goal lead. Puma FC struggled to break even, but all efforts were put to rest by the referee’s whistle to end the first half.
During the Halftime, we the sponsors of the events took to the stage and intimated the public on who we are, the value we offer and how we have added to the development of the society, and the need to invest in projects and real estate. We also publicized our real estate investment opportunities for those seeking a real estate investment package.
The second half finally kicked off. Puma FC had come back strong and furious and scored an equalizing goal. This goal roared the crowd who perceived the team as an underdog. But a dog who makes it to the final isn’t under anymore. Don’t you agree with me?
It didn’t take too long before the perceived underdogs netted their second goal. Things had gone completely awry for the defending champions All Stars FC who had slacked on their defensive sleeves.
More confidence began to spur in the Puma FC side which later grew to overconfidence resulting in one of Puma FC’s player getting sent out of the field by a Red Card after challenging the referee. An initial yellow card was issued to the player for an infringement tackle, but the player feeling his tackle was undeserving of a card, challenged the referee and was sent out for that. Leaving the underdog team with 10 players and just 1 goal ahead of the defending champions.
Puma FC had to recline and adopt a defensive tactic which they struggled with to hold their lead all through the rest of the game. Luckily, it paid off. The game finally ended 2-1. The Underdogs had come back from a 1 goal deficit in the first half and netting two more goals to credit in the second half and finally came out victorious, defeating the defending champions to becoming the reigning champion.
The representatives of the official sponsors, Pertinence Limited presented a cheque of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000.00) to the Winner and One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) to the runner-up.
Gold and Silver Medals were given to the winners and the runner-ups respectively. Medals of appreciation was issued by the Local government chairman to the Staff representatives of Pertinence Limited as a token for their partnership.
