How Happiness can change your life #InternationalDayOfHappiness
Today is #InternationalDayOfHappiness so what happy thing will you do today.
Happiness is a vital part of human life, it is in the core of… bla bla bla.
Were you expecting a long epistle explaining what happiness means and the history of International Day of Happiness? If you were, sorry to disappoint you. But because today is a day the world celebrates happiness, we want to be happy and make you happy too with few tips for happiness.
Do what makes you happy
I have a dozen friends that always use these lines “do whatever makes you happy” when they have given up on trying to assist you, or they have simply given up on trying to convince you to do or act otherwise.
There is a common saying that your happiness is your responsibility. Abram Lincoln in one of his famous quotes said: “Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.” This implies that you are responsible for your own happiness.
The flip side to this is that we may sometime think that we are only responsible for our own happiness and not for others. Of course, your happiness is your responsibility, but does that mean you should be happy at the expense of others happiness?
Making others happy will make you even happier.
Have you noticed that people in love appear to be happier than those without love? This is because their partner may be doing something that makes them happy, or they may be doing something that makes their partner happy. There is a pleasure you derive in putting a smile on someone’s face, and satisfaction in knowing you made them happy.
“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.”
― Robert A. Heinlein, Stranger in a Strange Land
As an organization, we derive pleasure in seeing smiles on other people’s faces through various means and platforms like donations, supports, and sponsorships to mention a few; and we encourage that in individuals too. Instead of thinking of what you can do to make yourself happy, why don’t you turn the focus around to your immediate neighbor, colleague or friend?
“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”
― Dalai Lama XIV
Always remember that the actions of love and care we show to people around us don’t only end with the smile on their faces or with their words of appreciation and gratitude. It leaves an indelible mark, an imprint and a strong sense of debt, dedication, and loyalty to you. You will be amazed at how they will stand for you and with you when the need arises.
Do what makes you happy and make the world around you happy too.
