Renowned Economist, Professor Pat Utomi got allocated his plot of land at Greenland in Ibeju-Lekki during the grand launch of the estate on Saturday, 27 January, 2024.
Utomi, alongside a few other investors, had the privilege of choosing their preferred plots in the estate, being the first set of investors to show interest in the property right after the launch.
The Greenland project, designed as an eco-friendly hub, is launching at a time when there is a growing awareness among consumers about the environmental impact of real estate development, leading to increased demand for sustainable homes, eco-friendly communities, and green building practices.
Addressing a diverse audience of investors, homeowners, and other real estate stakeholders, Prof. Utomi emphasised the significance of incorporating sustainable practices into everyday life, particularly within urban development projects.
He commended the project’s commitment to shaping a greener and more sustainable urban landscape in Nigeria’s bustling metropolis.

In his words, “Imagination is the very beginning of everything. Once you have a good imagination, you can translate it into all kinds of innovation.
“Here we are in a place soon to be the very centre of the economic hub of Lagos, and it (Greenland) is a place where you can live a serene life right in the middle of it all. It takes imagination to conceptualise this, and it takes effort and creativity to bring it alive.
“I think in a few years when you come to this area, you may not be able to recognise it. With the way this industrial hub is evolving, I think that when you come, you will see an enormous commercial development but then you will see a getaway place in Greenland, and that is what is thrilling about it all.
“I’m very proud that the Pertinence team has been able to do this, and I’m looking forward to being a part of this community someday in the future.”
At the launch, co-founders of Pertinence Group, Dr. Sunday Olorunsheyi and Mr. Wisdom Ezekiel also delivered inspiring speeches, extolling the virtues of Greenland and highlighting its unparalleled features that promise a healthy and sustainable lifestyle for residents.
“The landed property project is expected to be powered only by renewable energy sources, with over 400 trees being planted across the estate to minimise air and noise pollution,” said Ezekiel.
Other dignitaries that graced the occasion were movie producer and actress, Mrs. Moyinoluwa Olutayo, who gave the welcome address as a member of the board of directors, Pertinence Group; as well as highly talented and versatile Nigerian movie actor, producer, and director, Mr. Lanre Afod, who joined in the planting of trees within the estate.
